* 最も影響力のあるアニメスタジオ「ピクサー」のCEOでもあるスティーブ・ジョブスのミーティングを断ることのできるレーベルのトップマネージメントはいなかった。他のコンピュータ、ソフトウェア業界のトップ、ベンチャーのカリスマ経営者でもこのようにはいかなかっただろう。

* ジョブスの辞書に2流という言葉は存在しない。自らのミュージックストアを2流としないため、初めからUSAの5大レーベル全ての楽曲を販売することを前提に行動していた。ソニー・ミュージックさえも彼の交渉リストに初めから含まれていた。(この本に出てくるSONYストリンガーCEOはとても滑稽に描かれている)

* iTunesはスタート時点ではMacしかサポートしていなかったので、「どんなに普及してもこのサービスのシェアは全PCユーザの5%である」という理由が存在した。ユニバーサルのトップ、ダグ・モリスは「アップルがマックで一年音楽を配信したぐらいで、音楽産業全体が破滅するわけないだろ。一度やらせてみろよ」などといっていた。業界の巨人ユニーバーサルを説得できれば他のレーベルは基本的に右に倣えだった。さらに業界のカリスマの何人かはアップルの熱烈なファンだった。

* iTunesが完全に成功した後、WindowsにiTunesを展開する際、アップルのWindowsへの展開を断ることは、すなわち「ユーザに正規に曲を購入できる機会の提供を断る」ことを意味する。そのような汚名をかぶることはクールを売り物にするレーベルにとっては不可能だった。
